October Update

I'm going to try and do a monthly update for those of you who are interested detailing any cakes I am making, any cake ideas I have and any random things I feel like typing!!

This month I have my lovely mum's birthday coming up. For her cake I was thinking about attempting a cake in the style of a handbag (very fitting for her as she does love her bags!!).

I really want to try making a rainbow cake at some point this month too (basically a cake with lots of brightly coloured layers).

Children in Need is coming up shortly and I think I would also like to make a pudsey cake to auction off as a raffle prize for work.... perhaps I could make it a rainbow cake on the inside and white icing on the outside with bright polka dots?! kill two birds with one stone as they say :)

I (at some point this month) hope to get some business cards printed off to start spreading the word the old fashioned way!

Please feel free to contact me about all your cakey needs, even if its just for some advice about cake baking and decorating!

Thanks for all your support so far.

All Packed And Ready To Go!

Here's what a pack of 6 cupcakes you order will come packaged in. All cupcakes and cakes are collection only at this point in time, however I am looking into how much next day delivery will cost (this will be an additional cost to you, the buyer). You will still have the option to collect if you do not want to pay for delivery.

Chocolate Orange Cupcakes

I made a batch of Chocolate Orange cupcakes, the cake is chocolate and the buttercream is flavoured with orange essence. They taste amazing!

I really wanted to try doing two tone icing again so gave it another go, of course to keep with the chocolate orange theme I should have really used orange colouring but i didn't have any in the cupboard. I used pink instead. I'm really happy with how these have turned out... my best ones so far!!

Coffee and Walnut Cupcakes

Today I made a batch of coffee and walnut cupcakes. The coffee flavoured buttercream had chopped walnuts in as did the actual cake mix.

I have to say these are my favorite so far for flavour! Had a little trouble with the icing, chunks of walnut kept getting stuck in the nozzle so next time i think i will use a pallet knife to spread the buttercream on.

Chocolate Buttercream and Marshmallow Fluff

I made two batches of cupcakes, both were chocolate sponge. One had a marshmallow fluff and coconut topping and the other had a plain chocolate buttercream topping with a sparkly purple flower. I have heard you can make a marshmallow icing which I plan to attempt at some point as I found the marshmallow fluff was incredibly sticky which made it impossible to pipe.

Vanilla, Raspberry and Strawberry Slimming World Cake

Here is another slimming world 'half syn' cake! this one is only half a syn for the whole cake and is filled with fresh raspberry and strawberries yum :)

Next time I plan to use more of the vanilla quark filling to make it more creamy in the middle.

Chocolate Orange Slimming World Cake

I was a member of slimming world for some time and I got told a reciepe for a 'half syn cake'. I have played around with the reciepe and come up with a chocolate orange version worth 2.5 syns (for the WHOLE cake, not per slice).

It has freshly chopped orange segments inside. The chocolate flavour is a sachet of chocolate options.

Oreo Cupcakes

Last night I made some oreo cupcakes. I'm trying to think of new and exciting flavour combinations. These cupcakes are vanilla flavoured with an oreo cookie in the bottom, with vanilla and oreo buttercream icing.

They taste amazing but next time I think I will make a chocolate sponge... also my icing skills on cupcakes still needs work, but as they say 'practice makes perfect'!

Olly Murrs Cupcakes

So it was my birthday last week and my friend at work brought me some olly murrs cupcake toppers. I decided to make some chocolate sponge cupcakes with pink and cream swirly buttercream icing.

They turned out well but i think i need to work on my icing skills!! Oh well I guess I'll just have to make another batch ;)

Baby Shower Cake

I was asked to make a baby shower cake for my cousin's friend, she knew she was having a boy so she asked for blue everything! Including the actual sponge. The cake had a chocolate buttercream filling and was two tiers.  I was nervous about making a two tier cake as some of my other attempts have not been very good, but to my surprise it turned out fantastically!!!

The finished cake, the writing says 'awaiting your arrival'

The top tier before being iced.... very blue!!

LOVE the colour of the cake mix :)

Green Day Cake

For my brothers birthday i made him a Green Day cake , it was a copy of the 'American Idiot' album cover.

My writing on this cake isn't brilliant but its improved tonnes since I made this cake :)

Here is a picture of the actual album cover:

Peppa Pig Cake

For my daughters second birthday I made her a Peppa Pig cake.... it really was a pig to make!! It was my first attempt at a 'non-round' cake and even though it was a little rough around the edges, it turned out not so bad!

Green Swirls Cake

I made this cake for my best friends birthday. It was a plain sponge with chocolate buttercream filling.

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog! On here I will be uploading info on cakes that I have made (good and any failed attempts!)
